While originally set to only produce the film, Guillermo del Toro will now also direct his adaptation of Beauty and the Beast for Warner Bros., simply titled Beast.

Andrew Davies has been brought on board to write the script based on del Toro’s treatment. Davies also penned Bridget Jones’s Diary and its 2004 sequel, as well as last year’s The Three Musketeers.
