A trailer has surface for Superman: Unbound, the next release from Warner Home Video’s animated DC Universe movies.

Based on the Geoff Johns/Gary Frank 2008 release “Superman: Brainiac,” the movie finds the horrific force responsible for the destruction of Krypton – Brainiac descending upon Earth. Brainiac has crossed the universe, collecting cities from interesting planets – Kandor, included – and now the all-knowing, ever-evolving android has his sights fixed on Metropolis. Superman must summon all of his physical and intellectual resources to protect his city, the love of his life, and his newly-arrived cousin, Supergirl.

Matt Bomer (White Collar) will provide the voice of Clark Kent/Superman while Stana Katic and Molly Quinn of Castle voice Lois Lane and Supergirl respectively. John Noble of Fringe rounds out the cast as Brainiac.

Superman: Unbound is set to hit store shelves on May 7, 2013.
