As the name suggests, Mario Kart 8 will be Nintendo’s 8th installment in the highly successful Mario Kart franchise. The game will encompass many of the same features used in Mario Kart 7, including the gliders, tricks, and underwater racing. Nintendo is also taking the racer to new heights with the power of anti-gravity. Some courses shown contained legs of tracks that had racers driving along walls or completely upside down while their wheels inverted and began to glow. This idea could allow for the craziest Rainbow Road ever made as well as some sweet alternate pathways. The game will be available in spring of 2014.
No new characters or power-ups have been announced and the number of racers per race has not been confirmed. Motorbikes will be making a return alongside karts as an alternate form of racing.
