Marvel’s What If, Xolo Maridueña cast as Blue Beetle, & Colin Jost writing TMNT movie – 2021-08-04
Marvel’s What If…? will have nine episode seasons
Back in December of 2019, Marvel’s Kevin Feige revealed that Season 1 of the animated series What If…? would consist of 10 episodes and that a second season of 10 was already in pre-production. However, as a result of the pandemic, their production schedule took a hit. Now, executive producer Brad Winderbaum has confirmed that both Seasons 1 and 2 of the upcoming show will each be 9 episodes long, with each episode targeted for a roughly 30-minute runtime.
It’s also been known that Chadwick Boseman’s final performance for the MCU will be heard in the series. However, Winderbaum has confirmed that he’ll be heard even more than we originally thought, as the late actor is set to appear in four different episodes as different versions of his character.
Marvel’s What If…? premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, August 11.
Xolo Maridueña cast as lead in Blue Beetle movie
Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña has officially been cast to star in HBO Max, Warner Bros., and DC Films upcoming Blue Beetle movie.
In DC Comics, Blue Beetle is the superhero alter ego used by three different heroes, but the film will focus on Mexican-American teenager Jaime Reyes, the third character to assume the Blue Beetle mantle.
Reyes discovered the Blue Beetle scarab on the way home from school with two of his best friends, half-buried in a vacant lot. He took the scarab home, curious as to what it might be. That night, the scarab came alive, and grafted itself to the base of Jaime’s spine, and provided him with a suit of extraterrestrial armor which can be modified to enhance his speed and strength, as well as to create weapons, wings and shields.
Maridueña currently stars as Miguel Diaz in the Netflix original series “Cobra Kai,” the continuation of the “Karate Kid” franchise, the fourth season of which will premiere in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Casey and Colin Jost are writing a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie for Paramount
Deadline is reporting that brothers Casey and Colin Jost are co-writing a brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie for Paramount Pictures.
The untitled, live-action movie is separate from the CGI-animated film that Seth Rogen is producing for Paramount and Nickelodeon.
Like the past two installments, plot details are being kept under wraps outside of the film revolving around everyone’s favorite pizza-eating, nunchuck-swinging, life-sized turtles.
