Syfy is developing a spin-off of its popular Warehouse 13 dramedy series.
The project, from Warehouse showrunner Jack Kenny and another writer, will center on the character of H.G. Wells.
While it is still in the early stages and thus subject to change, the idea is to put Wells in an 1890s steampunk environment. Despite Warehouse 12’s efforts to recruit her, she would remain a free agent who uses her knowledge of contemporary science to solve murders and other mysteries.
In this incarnation, she would enlist the help of a mechanical engineer and utilize her relationship with the police commissioner to solve what appear to be unsolvable cases. Both the skills and style she employs will become the framework for the well-known stories of H.G. Wells, as written by her brother.
It kills me that warehouse 13 and sanctuary are still on, but SGU has been canceled. Syfy no longer has any actual science fiction shows.
I LOVE Warehouse 13!! Best show SyFy’s ever put together.
Really? It’s an okay show, but best show Syfy has made?!? What about Battlestar Galactica, Farscape, or The Outer Limits? Their current line up pales in comparison.
I get why they have shows like WWE, Ghost hunters, and Scare tactics, and I think there is a legitimate place for them on the station, but not at the sacrifice of genuine science fiction. It seems like every show they have now is simply modern fantasy. It’s not even good modern fantasy, Being Human is a disgrace to the original BBC version.
I haven’t seen BSG or Farscape, and I just couldn’t get into The Outer Limits. It creeped me out way too much like The Twilight Zone does.
